My Camp Highlight

Day 2 at camp:

We were all packed in and squashed like sardines in the bus with our rafting gear on, trying to block out the sound of all the other kids singing the “wheels on the bus”. We had to suck it up all the way to the Mohaka River! But it was worth it in the end.P3090239.JPG

When we finally got there we got into our groups and went with our instructor. Me and my group (the Cross Eyed Campers) had Curtis as our instructor, the best one of all because he let us crash into everything! He told us what to do and in no time at all we were the first group rafting down the Mohaka River!DSCF5271.JPG

We started to raft at rocket speed towards the first fast rocky rapid! Not to lie, I was a bit scared at first, but we made it! One hour later further down the river….

Oh man! We were stuck... just stuck…. very much stuck... and the other groups were overtaking us! Jump up and down instructed Curtis if you ever want to get off this rock! So we did what he said. Then it happened……

I slipped and went flying out of the boat…. splosh! I was so scared the current was pushing me to an extremely rocky rapid. I was terrified. Down I slid, bouncing and crashing into all of the hard stone rocks! But just my luck I went heading straight for another group’s raft. They threw me a rope. I held on and got pulled in, but my feet got stuck under their raft and the rock that they were stuck on. Finally I got pulled on! We rafted towards my group’s raft and we were back on track sailing down the river!

I’m sure we all had a great, exciting, and awesome time!DSCF5301.JPG
